Wesleyan chapel, Coddington

The chapel dates from 1828, when a group of local businessmen purchased the land for £5. In the mid-nineteenth century the chapel was very popular in the community, so much so that the Wesleyans rebuilt the chapel in 1865 at a cost of £400. By the late 1970s, however, the congregation was too small to maintain the chapel’s running costs and so it was was sold in 1980. The developer converted the 2,000 square foot chapel into a quintessentially English country home with two large reception rooms, a cloakroom, a kitchen, a utility room and four bedrooms (including a master en-suite). The property recently sold for £415,000.
